Portland Center Managing Council

2026 Nominations

(from SRF Center Department website)

Managing Council

The Managing Council is elected annually by the general membership or appointed directly by Center Department. It is composed of the Coordinator, Secretary, and Treasurer. If additional help is needed, two or more Members at Large can be elected.

We want to emphasize that although Managing Council members may have specific, individual duties (such as Coordinator, Treasurer, Secretary, Member-at-Large), their primary responsibility is to work together as a collective unit in coordinating the organizational aspects of the group.

It is the duty of the coordinator to see that the various activities of the Center or Group function harmoniously and that they are in accordance with the guidelines given by the Mother Center.

  • Organize the Managing Council’s activities.

  • Set the dates for Council meetings, prepare the agenda, and act as facilitator during the meeting (or appoint one of the other Council members to act in his/her stead).

  • Review and sign the General Report and the Annual Financial Report before they are sent to Center Department.

  • Strive to ensure that all duties within the group are adequately delegated.

  • Generally coordinate the smooth flow of information among Council members, from the Council to the membership, and to Center Department.

  • Please note that the coordinator is not considered to be “in charge” of a group. He/she holds equal responsibility with all other managing council members, and any important decisions are made as a team.
